I recently lost my husband, and amidst the grieving process, I wanted to honour his wishes for a humanist ceremony. Both he and I had discussed it previously, so finding the right celebrant was crucial. Initially, the funeral director recommended someone, but he was too sombre for what my son and I wanted.
Remembering that Russ Kane had become a celebrant, I reached out to him to discuss our needs. From our first conversation, Russ exuded thoughtfulness and kindness. On the day of the ceremony, he displayed utmost professionalism and perfectly balanced the solemnity of the occasion with the light-hearted touch my son and I wanted.

Russ took time took make sure he understood something of what made mum who she was and what she meant to us. He did this with sensitivity and respect. His listening approach together with thoughtful guidance helped what might have been a sad day unfold into a service full of life stories, happy memories, and celebration. We cannot thank Russ enough.

Russ is a very special human being. He possesses all the sensitivity and 'sympatico' anyone could hope for when you are at your lowest ebb. I could not have managed the funeral of my beloved brother if Russ had not been there. He is a calming and supportive presence and controls as much or as little of the service before, during and afterwards that you need him to. Added to this, he is also blessed with a rich and warm voice which is extremely comforting. I could not recommend him more highly - he truly cares about the role he is undertaking for you. We cannot recommend Russ highly enough. He not only conducted the funeral in a very professional but warm manner, he helped us with all sorts of advice and his experience was invaluable. His hosting of the funeral service was just right, sombre in places and lighthearted in places but all just the right tone. The Eulogy he wrote, after meeting us in our home, was excellent and he took on board all our comments so it truly reflected my husband's personality and life.

Russ was the celebrant at my late husband's funeral and it was clear at the outset that he was absolutely the best and most appropriate choice. He took time to read through information I sent him, so that by the time it came to the service it seemed as if he could have known my husband personally by the way he tailored his introductions and reflections. He also made it clear that I could feel free to contact him about any aspects of the service or its organisation, should the need arise. He was utterly professional, empathetic, and pulled the different aspects of the service together to make the occasion memorable for all the right reasons. I had been dreading the funeral but as the service progressed I felt ever calmer and at peace when my children and I went up to the coffin to say our final goodbye as we left. It was a fitting send off. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Russ as a funeral celebrant but I have no doubt he would do as professional and a job for weddings or other occasions.

We asked Russ to be a funeral celebrant to say a eulogy for my late husband, we couldn't of got a more caring person to deliver this for us, he made us feel that he had known my husband forever, he went through everything with us and asked us questions about my husbands life that were important to him and to us
- he made sure that we didn't forget anything which is easy to do when you're grieving. Russ added something special to a very sad time in my life. He told us exactly what would happen on the day of the funeral, Russ is a lovely person and would recommend him always.
